Hi Everyone,
We hope this message finds all of you healthy and safe. As of the first week of August 2020, the state of California has seen a significant increase in COVID-19 rates in the past two weeks and the government has decided to pull back their ‘restarting the state’ process. This means a cease to the partial reopening of ‘high risk’ businesses such as restaurants and movie theaters and many wage earners will continue work from home. Additionally, public schools throughout the region have opted to go to a (full home ) model for the first term of the 2020-21 school year. We thought this an appropriate time to state our position on how we plan to conduct business in this time of uncertainty.
Remote Services
For the foreseeable future CATCH will continue to provide our services remotely to all families and clients – through the use of file sharing and video conferencing – as we have been doing since the beginning of the Shelter-in-place order. For our long-distance clients this will of course present no noticeable change, but for local clients we understand that this arrangement has put a damper on your in-home programs over the past few months and many of you wish to resume that arrangement as soon as possible.
However we feel that as the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic are still in flux and experts seem to concur that future infection spikes are likely, if not certain, it is imperative to err on the side of caution and minimize transmission between our clients and their families. This policy will be carried out on a ‘wait and see’ approach and if conditions improve to the point where authorities give the all clear, we will revisit the issue. We maintain that in-person consultations are always preferred when possible, so please know that we also wish to return to that model as soon as possible.
As many of you know, online consulting is not a new thing for CATCH as we have been conducting business in this manner since we let go our brick and mortar offices in 2010. Our parent training model has always been built around parental empowerment and heavily utilizes video sharing and video meeting tools to review parent progress. We have many success stories from our national/international clients and feel confident that we can continue that success with all of our local clients through our distance-consultation model.
Wishing you all the best,
Maisie Soetantyo
